Things to Do in Sants: A Neighborhood Guide

Coffee shops in Barcelona

Sants is a neighborhood in the truest sense of the word: it has a lively street scene, local shops, parks, and one of Barcelona’s most spectacular annual festivals. It is also the neighborhood of BCN Kush, on Carrer de Galileu. If you come to check it out, here's what you can't miss.

Industrial Spain Park

Built on the site of a former textile factory, it is one of the city's most intriguing parks: it features a large grandstand, towers reminiscent of lighthouses, and a massive dragon sculpture. It is right next to the Sants station.

Joan Miró Park

Also known as Parc de l’Escorxador, because it stands on the site of the old slaughterhouse. Its most recognizable feature is the sculpture Dona and Ocell by Joan Miró, a colorful ceramic roof that rises above a pond.

Carrer de Sants and the market

The Sants Street It is one of Barcelona's longest shopping streets, lined with all kinds of stores. Nearby are the Sants Market and Plaça de Sants, which are great places to get a sense of the neighborhood's daily life.

Neighborhood Culture: Cotxeres and Can Batlló

  • Sants Bus Stations: a former streetcar depot that has been converted into a cultural center, featuring exhibitions and activities.
  • Can Batlló: a former industrial site in La Bordeta, revitalized by local residents as a community space.

The Sants Festival

In late August, several streets in the neighborhood compete for the best decorations. Residents spend months preparing their streets using recycled materials and increasingly elaborate themes. If you're in Barcelona around that time, it's definitely worth checking out.

How to Get There

Sants is very well connected: Sants Station (trains, high-speed trains, and Metro lines L3 and L5) and the stops at Plaça de Sants (L1 and L5), Hostafrancs (L1), and Plaça del Centre (L3). From the station, BCN Kush is just a few minutes’ walk away.

Remember

Using or carrying cannabis in public is against the law, including in parks and on public transportation (we explain this in Can you bring marijuana on the train?). BCN Kush is a private association open only to members who are 18 years of age or older and have been invited.
